Bethlehem Sands Casino for Better or for Worse

Bethlehem Steel Corporation (1857-2003), was once the 2nd largest steel producer in United States and one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world. Due to an unfortunate turn of events and management problems, the company was forced to file bankruptcy in 2001 and sold the remaining assets to International Steel Group in 2003. In 2007, the property was sold to Sands BethWorks in hopes of making City of Bethlehem a more prosperous community. Ironically the casino had difficulty finding structural steel for construction, thanks to a global steel shortage.

Sands Casino did a remarkable job on the new appearance of the old steel plant and added a fresh twist to Bethlehem nightlife with Emerald Restaurant, special events, live music and attention grabbing promotions. It gradually began attracting many out-of-towners as well, which was intended to stimulate Bethlehem economy and help local businesses. On the downside; the crime rate has gone up and Sands Casino reported enormous profits which means only one thing, it came from your wallet. The studies have shown that in towns where Casinos are located the divorce and suicide rates always go up. The police force has increased tremendously and acquired new expenses for the town, not to mention all the road expansions and building construction that had to take place, which will probably end up increasing property taxes for the locals.

Overall, I might be under the impression that Bethlehem Christmas City sold out its good name and meaning of its origin for the Sin of making money through gambling

Any Thoughts?
